I notice a huge trend at the end of each year for internet marketers on social media sites. Many marketers get filled with nostalgia and hyped up with the thought of a new year coming as if it is a magical time that will propel your business to new heights and erase all past mistakes.

They post all kinds of resolutions that they intend to stick to, starting January 1st and then slowly but surely they fall off and out of sight. This is why an all year long resolution is needed.

Why not make a conscientious choice to get back on track the moment you realize you have fallen off? Why not think big all of the time and not just at one time of the year.

If you treat your business like a hobby for most of the year, you can expect that you will only earn the money a hobby usually nets. Little or zilch. Many hobbyists are only in it for the fun and could care less if they earn or not. The enjoyment they receive is their payment.

Is your business a hobby?

Keep in mind what you can expect if you treat your business like a hobby, what do you think you can expect if you treat it like a real business? More likely than not, you will get out what you put into it. If you only put in a little effort you can reasonably only expect little outcome.

However if you think big and put in a hug effort you can reasonably expect to achieve good results which can be built on as time goes on.

Many times people in the internet marketing world are easily discouraged when they don’t achieve the unrealistic financial goals they see in the glossy flossy marketing ads. You know.. big cars, houses and women and men that look they just stepped out the pages of your favorite fashion magazine.

For marketers that do achieve this type of success, you best believe that they didn’t attain it overnight, in a week or even in a month.

Success is a direct result of your past actions and can be built on over and over again. This means that in order for you to attain success your past actions must lead you there. Everything you do or don’t  is either leading you towards or away from the success that you desire.

How bad do you want to be successful? Keep in mind that success will vary from person to person depending on whatever it is that they view as success. For some success could mean, no longer having to work a 9-5 while sending their children to daycare. For another success could mean adding an extra $500 a month to their existing income and for yet another success could mean making sales each and every week.

No matter what you view of success is, you need a plan to get there. There are so many informative ebooks, videos, articles and much more to help set you on the right path for your success.

But, it doesn’t matter how many big marketers you subscribe to, how many ebooks, video courses and training courses you purchase if you don’t take the time to learn and implement what you learn. It’s just like throwing your money out of the window if you don’t take the time to get the value out of what you invested in. Someone else will have your money and you will get zero results to show for it.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t have money to waste. When I buy a course it is because I truly want to learn from  and implement the techniques of whatever it is I am buying. I have a goal or mini goal in mind when I purchase it. When I subscribe to a newsletter, I take the time to read it and apply what I learn if it fits in with what I’m doing.

I think about what is standing between me and type of success I want to have and I make goals towards overcoming whatever obstacle it is that is stopping me.

There is rhyme and reason to things that I decide to do because I know that everything that I do that leads me towards success is also leading me towards accomplishing some of my goals. My goal is not success but that which success brings.

You may have many goals and mini goals as far as your list building, consistent blogging, interacting with others using social media, marketing yourself and actual sales are concerned, but what do you think you can do that can get you that much closer to your goal?

Now is the time to figure out what did and didn’t work last year? Think realistically as many are way off the mark when they think about how much they should be earning, especially if they haven’t been involved with internet marketing very long. Weed out the time eaters and focus on being more productive in your business.

Think big!

For example: If you want to build your list bigger, instead of thinking about how you can add one or two people to your list, focus instead on how to add several hundred to your list. Aim big and you will achieve bigger results. Do this consistently and more likely than not you will consistently see bigger and better results.

Think big and resolve to do your best not just now, but all year long to achieve bigger results.

Establishing a following on Twitter should  be within your arsenal of self marketing techniques because there are so many people there that you can follow or interact with. Logically you should be where you can easily be found by lots of people.

In case you don’t know what Twitter is..  Twitter is a huge real time microblogging network where you can interact with other users. Any tweet (status message) that you write must be fit into 140 characters or less. You can even upload a photo with your tweet. This option comes in handy when you have a photo you want to share.

There is so much you can do on Twitter. You can find tweets on just about any topic from movies, books and food to religion, business and politics. All you have to do is follow those whose tweets are interesting to you.

You can keep up with the latest in news, sales, business,  music, recipes, mom stuff and politics all in one place. There is literally something for everyone on Twitter.

You can choose to be an observer who just read the tweets of their favorite Twitter friends or you can be  a contributor who tweets so others can read from their stream too.

It is not uncommon to see your favorite movie star or singer tweeting away, sharing what they had for lunch, who they are with, what they are listening to or even what part of the world they are in today. There are politicians, news companies and many others that are keeping people informed about current world events.

You can find many major businesses on Twitter as well. Why are they there? Because they know that so many people flock to Twitter daily because it is such an easy way to connect with people. They can share changes with the company, new products and promotions as well as get feedback and their tweets shared by their loyal customers.

People are on Twitter for many different reasons. Some are there to connect with their family and friends while other are on there to make new business contacts, gain new customers or to keep their customers informed of new products and sales.

What does this mean for you as a business person? This means you have a good chance of getting people to listen (read) to what you have to say and a chance to bring them off of Twitter to your own blog, website or emailing list.

Upon joining Twitter you will want to fill out your profile and be sure to add a photo, preferably a photo of you so others will be able to get the sense of who they are interacting with.  People are more apt to connect with you when they can see who you are. A picture of a flower, a cake or whatever else doesn’t establish that personal connection.

You can help them get to know you by sharing a little information about yourself and your business. Your profile should briefly sum up what you are about and why you are there.

Within your own tweet stream you can share helpful articles, videos and websites as well as information about your business opportunity and products. You can also share some personal information. Only share what you are comfortable with others knowing.

If you see a tweet that you feel your followers can benefit from you can always retweet it so your followers get to see the tweet as well. It doesn’t hurt to share. In fact it shows your audience that you are looking out for their best interest and are willing to point out and show them things that may help them. It also shows the tweeter that you appreciated their tweet and found it worthy of sharing.

You can also share links on Twitter. Many share links that go directly to their blog posts, websites, business opportunities and products. This can help you to gain more readers and make more sales.

You can even offer a giveaway with a link to your email list and build your list from interested Twitter members which will give you further contact with those who sign up.

Some tweeters choose throw contests to help get more followers to their account or they may simply ask for more followers. Set aside some time when you can tweet, according to what will fit in your schedule and use Twitter apps like Twaitter to schedule some of your  tweets in advance for when you know you won’t be able to tweet.

The Perfect Business Partner

When we think of the type of person who would make a ideal business partner many things come to mind.

1. Loyal: One who is faithful. A person who you can really count on. They remain steadfast and aren’t blown here and there easily like a leaf in the midst of a gushing wind.

2. Trustworthy: A moral value considered to be a virtue. You know when you talk to this person you can trust them and they wont betray you. Your secrets are safe with them. This person is honest and will not cheat you.

3. Hardworking: Industrious, perservering, tireless. A person who is not looking for a get rich quick scheme or money for nothing is an asset to your business
. They will put in the necessary time needed to effectively work on building a business.

4. Teamplayer: This person possesses all of the before mentioned qualities. They care about others and are willing to learn from, teach and help their team mates. They know that the world does not revolve around them and that helping the team is as good as helping themselves as they are all working toward a common goal.

5. Kind: This type of person genuinely cares about others. They show true concern and warmth.

What doesn’t come to mind?

1. Betrayer: Backstabber, back biter, liar. This type of person can’t be true to anyone and is in fact their own worst enemy as it is very hard for them to hide who they are for very long and they begin to make a bad name for themselves.

2. Sneaky: You could never tell this type of person anything in confidence nor trust them with anything of true value. They try to find a loophole in everything that they do and are constantly looking for ways to get over or buck the system.

3. Slacker: Never completes a job, lazy. This type of person can never build a business because they don’t have the drive and lack motivation.

4. Team Of One: This persons only care is about their own self and they can not be a team player because they are too absorbed with their own self to recognize that it takes a team to build and sustain a successful network marketing business.

5. Nasty: This type of person is only nice until either they get what they want or you don’t do what they want and then the facade they put up is easily torn down as they discard you, throwing you away like trash once they are done with you. This type of person likes to quickly build friendships but doesn’t retain them.

When looking for the “Perfect” business partner you need to take a long hard look at yourself. We need to really scrutinize ourselves as we would someone else. Do we like what we see when we examine our self? Ask yourself if you represent the first set of qualities or do you reflect the latter. Which of these qualities would would you like to further develop or rid yourself of? The answers will vary from person to person.

When looking for that “Perfect” business partner you need to become what you are looking for so you can attract others who possess qualities you admire and deflect those who reflect undesirable qualities. Be the best YOU that you can be and you will find the treasures you so desire.
