Archive for team building

Okay, you have a brand new business and you’re very excited. You know it’s a great opportunity because you thoroughly checked it out. You have some knowledge of how network marketing works and you have a great system in place to help those who join you build their business which in reality is also building your business.

So what’s next?

It’s time to build your team. But do you want just anyone who is willing to sign up? No. It’s understandable that you are very eager to build your team but there is a very good reason that I said no.

You want people to join and refer others to your business because they know and trust you. You want them to join because they believe in the opportunity and really want to be successful like you want to be successful.

If they only joined because of all the hype you were feeding them about the earnings, you will not retain them. It can be very disappointed to earn nothing month after month.

Even if it is a lucrative opportunity it must provide a way for part timers to earn.

Many people only work their home based business part time. Some have jobs, children or other situations that prevent them from working from home full time so the opportunity has to be worth their while.

You will not retain a downline for very long if it is too hard for them to earn.

If they need to wear red and blue on the third Tuesday of the month as long as there is a full moon while spinning in a circle to earn, how many do you think will stay? How many will be able to refer others and show them how to duplicate that? Not many.

You provide them with a good opportunity, honest assessment of

the compensation plan, support and a system that they can

duplicate and they have a better chance of growing their business

and teaching the same to their downline.

You want people with a similar mindset joining your business opportunity. Not just anyone you can talk into joining. You will only learn their mindset if you get to know them interact with and observe them.

What do see when you observe them? Do they flutter from business to business, never working any of them past a couple of weeks and then on to the next trend once they have a few recruits because they are on to the next hottest thing.

What do you think will happen is they decide on a whim to join yours?

You don’t want to sponsor just anyone into your business. It takes more than having the ability to afford to get into your network marketing company to make a good business partner.

When you add someone to your team you are working towards a common goal..SUCCESS. Their success is your success. You want to bring those to your team who are willing to learn and become an asset to your team and in turn do for others what you are doing for them.

Be selective or it will never work! If you had a leaky faucet would you let anyone standing outside with a wrench come in and fix it.

Of course not. An untrained person could take a minor situation and turn it into something major that could really cost you.

If your tooth needed extracting would anyone with a pair of pliers and some pain killers do? Sure they could technically extract your tooth but how much would it hurt? Pretty bad I think.

Making choices regarding your business is no different from any other choices you have to make in life. You have to make wise decisions. If you don’t it could hurt and cost you.. big time.

Sure you may get plenty of referrals if you choose not to be selective, especially if you have a reputation of being helpful or a hard worker, but more likely than not they will be lazy, untrained, unmotivated and waiting for you to do it all for them.

Your business will be like a revolving door, people walking in one side and right out the other.

Keep in mind that those are also the same type of people who will be blaming you when they fail at the business opportunity that they never put any work into.

You cannot, nor should you build a business for someone else. When someone join your team they should be an asset not someone waiting for you to hand them all their referrals or downline. If you are going to do 100% of the work then you don’t need a middle man for that.

Being selective and choosing like minded caring people who will in turn do the same will build a better and stronger business for all of you. You will know that they are properly trained and have the right mindset for doing the same.

To Your Success,

You just heard of a great opportunity. Several people you know are involved with the company and they tell you that his is the one and you need to join now!

You are so excited. It sounds like such a wonderful opportunity. People are earning already. You know how much it costs to join and you have the money.

Halt, stop, do not pass go and do not collect 200 dollars.

1. Have you checked the company out? You can Google the name of the president of the company. Check the company out with the Better Business Bureau and see if the company is reputable or if they have been involved in any business scams in the past. If so be wary of dealing with them.

If they have been unscrupulous in the past do not assume that they have regained good business morals or a conscience now. A good company will run their company well and their aim is not to cheat you. They have integrity.

2. Did you find out how long the company has been around? Timing is important. It is best to not join a company that has just started up. Most companies fail after two years. Where would that leave you? If they make it to three or four years, join then. It will be just as good or better than what they are hyping it up to be now.

3. Have you really investigated the product? Is it truly remarkable? You want a product that people want, need or just have to have. While it is good when you can use a product you market, do you absolutely have to use it? No. It is for the customer and does not have to be for you. Example: A man selling make up or a woman selling vitamins for men. Find out what the people want and give it to them.

Also is the product you will sell available online or in a store for less than you will be asking? If so, where do you think customers will go? People will go to who ever is selling the product for the cheapest price.

4. Have you truly checked out the compensation plan? If the company says you can make 12,000 per month or even 40,000 a month have you checked into how much volume it will take to do that or if your pay plan is even based on volume?

Is the compensation plan based only on referrals? Does the money stop when you are not recruiting? Those are things you need to know. You also need to know what type of plan it is. For example: If it is a matrix plan you may need thousands of referrals to achieve your desired level of pay.

If the company is offering spillover it can promote laziness. Many people will join and do nothing thus waiting for you to build their business instead of contributing to the business. Are you willing to pay month after month or year after year to be in a business that will be almost impossible to get the extremely large amount of referrals needed to achieve the monthly amount of money the company is offering?

Also if your plan is a 4X6 matrix for example: Do you realize that you will not make money on levels 7 on down. What if that is your strongest level? Or what if level 9 is? It does not even matter because you will not get paid on the levels outside of your compensation plan.

5. Can the system be duplicated? If you can not train your sponsored team members to do what you do or if the one who sponsored you has not taken the time to properly train you how far do you think your business will go? People who do not earn money get frustrated and they will drop out of your business. You need a system you can use to train your sponsored members so they are prepared to help build the business.

In addition to these five crucial steps do not hesitate to ask for a companies policies and procedures. That is a binding contract between you and the company. What is in there could seriously affect you. Would you knowingly join a company that could terminate you at any time for any reason or even steal the members you worked hard to sponsor and mentor? Of course you would not, as that would be the equivalent of the company stealing your earnings, but if you do not read the contract you will never know until it is too late. Better safe than sorry.

Gain knowledge. Apply what you learn.
